Remember this? “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!” An old popular gospel song that somewhere in our lives we have heard at least once, if not joined in singing. It’s up-beat, fun to clap along to and puts us in a state of joy.
But consider how powerful that is. Shining our light. Or better yet, Owning our Light! But how do we do that? Yes, we can sing about it, we can declare it, but what exactly does that mean and how do we consciously activate it? How do we ‘let ourselves shine’? Quite honestly and quite simply, it’s not that difficult.
First, we already do let our lights shine just by our Being here on this planet. But if you’re anything like me, that’s not quite enough. I’m always looking to shine brighter ~ be MORE of my grand self and to purposely put that forward. (And it’s also shining more light on old fears that have kept me limited!)
It’s only recently that I have touched upon what ‘shining our light’ really means to me and what implications it can truly have. It feels quite astounding when you give it pause for thought and you begin to put your ‘shine’ at the front of your thought processing. Let me explain:
I have been finding myself catching up with dear friends from the past lately and have been surrounding myself with more and more people who are of like mind. Joyful, creative and present in their Beings. Yes, we all still have our personal challenges and we are sharing them with each other. And in that sharing, I am amazed at what I am being told about myself by what they have to say about me…or better yet, what they see in me that I haven’t quite seen in myself!
They see my light! They see how brightly it shines! They absolutely know this about me because I naturally wear it!
But I never felt that I did. I used to think, “Well, they really don’t know that I’m not really quite like that.” And since I am the ruler of my own Being, I was right. They didn’t have the entire picture of who I was and they were only seeing a part of me so that’s why they only saw my shining light and not the ‘other parts’ that I felt did not make me shine.
Then I had to ask myself, “What other parts?” The way that I am being seen out in the world is not an act I am doing. It is 100% me! And if that is true, then I am not lying about the brightness of my light! The brightness of my light that I so badly want to shine outward…because it’s the only way to get the same brightness of light shining inward!
So now I consciously choose to Own My Light! I am seen as a bright light and I have no right what so ever to hide any part of it! This new place within me feels heavenly! Powerful! Grand! LIGHT!!!
Join me in this, dear Beings! Own Your Light! When someone makes a comment on how they appreciate you for anything that you do, know that they are seeing your light! Own it!
Revel in it! BE it! “Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!!!”
